WHO AM I...?
Bhagavan raised this question in his early days of his life. Venkataraman is his childhood
name. When he was studying in Madurai, once as usual he returned from the School, was shocked to found his Father was no more.
His Father was kept in a Wooden Bench. Venkataraman went near to his father and touched him. The body was chill. He is not responding to the touch. The body was limb.
Venkataramana asked himself... Who is his father...? If he is the body... he should have responded to him now. But the body is not moving at all. So, he is not the body. He understood... something is went out from this body... which should have been his father. His father is not this body. He is something else.

The next question arises his mind was...What is that...? It was there before... So, his father was active. Now, It was not there... So, his father was inactive.
After his father's cremation process... Venkataraman became a person to himself. His Family, relatives and friends thought, his father's demise made him silent. He needed an answer to the question... What went out from his father...?
One day, after his School, he went to his room in up stair and locked himself in. Like his father, he stretched himself on the bench. He closed his eyes. Made his body rigid. Stopped his breathing from going out. He was in this state for long. His only itch was to find the 'thing' that is within him.
Later, he himself explained, what was happened. ' I closed my eyes. Controlled my breath and concentrated from where is arise.Fear came to my mind, that i am going to die.My heart beat was high. I kept on to further... then suddenly something inside of me came to guide me through this process much easier. Nothing stopped my mind to enjoy the peaceful happiness that is happening inside. I don't know how much time had been passed. I heard some one calling from a distance, My wakening was happening very slowly...'
After this extraordinary experience, Venkataraman was always silent in School and home. Once someone came to his home from the temple town of Thirvannamalai, told his father about a town named Viluppuram that near to the Hill and Temple and the Lord Annamalaiyar. From that conversation, the name of the Lord and the Hill were attracted him. He himself drew a shape of the Hill in a paper.
One day, the urges to go to the Hill was itching his mind. He took the piece of paper... which contains the drawing of the Hill and some money from his Brothers pocket... took a Train to Chennai... Got down in Viluppuram. From there he was walking on the path of Thiruvannamalai. In the distance he found the great Hill... and astonished that the drawing in the papar and the shape of the hill were same.
He reached the Temple. Saw the temple and the Hill behind it. Then he went to the pond opposite to the Temple... threw the paper and the money. Tear his dhotty into a small piece and wore it as an inner garment. Took a shower and went to the darkened Temple. Where he found the 'inner self' that guided him... through his inner searching... is Annamalaiyar.
At last he found the Source and Place. Where he rested until he mingles it.
Sairam.
